Pinkpop backstage: Toazted got the chance to talk to bass player Bob Hardy from the very populair band Franz Ferdinand. The band had been on tour for a while and play a lot of festivals in 2006. Last year the guys even wrote a song minutes before they got on the stage. Bob explains how the band write their brilliant songs. Recorded in June 2006.

We spoke to the very populair Scottish band Franz Ferdinand who played the Dutch Lowlands festival, August 2005. We asked them about the new album, a new song they just made that day and their future plans.

"Songwriting is very easy for us: We sit down, play a few chords and sing a melody."

Franz Ferdinand played the Lowlands festival and Toazted did an interview with Alex and Nick, just before they had to play.

"We went to Japan. It's intense. It felt like Beatlemania. Good fun."

According to NME, Franz Ferdinand is the band that will change your life. But Alexander Kapranos and Bob Hardy don't pay too much attention to the hype. In this interview they talk about success, selling out, and their love of music:

"We think there's nothing wrong with playing to lots and lots of people, but to us that doesn't mean we have to compromise on the creative process...One of the most exciting things about music is the way it moves other people, the way it can stir emotions in people that you can't do through any other medium."
