Regular John of Toazted, Troy van Leeuwen, spoke again with us, about half a year after the Paradiso show in Holland where they like spending time. What has changed? Is it just the venue’s or does it go beyond? And what is the kind of mood that fits Era Vulgaris? A sick carnival for instance?

"Thats the great thing about music, you can decide what it sounds like"

How to promote yourself these days. What is it that a band has to do for it? Troy knows, and explains in this part, that he has some ideas. Thats how they ended up in a saltmine couple of hundred feet below the ground for a dark, exclusive concert. Troy tells us how these spontanious things happen.

An hour before QOTSA performed in Paradiso Toazted spoke with guitarist Troy van Leeuwen. We asked him about the origin of his last name and you can quess what it is, the Netherlands. Toazted had an interview with Queens Of The Stone Age guitar player Troy van Leeuwen and drummer Joey Castillo in a very classy hotel in Amsterdam. (February 2005). The interview is all about the album "Lullabies To Paralize." Singer Mark Lanegan was lying down on a coutch, while Troy and Joey talked about the music.

"We like playing smaller shows to get in touch with the people. The bigger the place the further away you have to reach."

This interview is with guitarist Troy van Leeuwen. It was recorded at the Pinkpop Festival in June 2003. Troy talks about the new Desert Sessions album and the new A Perfect Circle album.

"I am a little tired, but feel very good. We don't pay that much attention about the hype around us. Sometimes we laugh about it."

We interviewed Josh Homme when Queens of the Stone Age was in town to play at De Melkweg in Amsterdam in 2002. He talked to us about working with Dave Grohl and Mark Lanegan.

"To me, it's a band of my friends, who are people I really respect and who are my musical peers and so it's weird for me because I don't think of it as a band of all stars."
